Juicy and tender is how a really good rib eye should be and with an even equal delicious side dish prepared in a skillet makes your steak and vegetables the perfect 20 minute meal!
Preparation 6-8 Minutes!
- Room temperature steaks because they always cook better when well rested.
- Salt & Pepper or steak season your steaks on both sides and set aside just before you cook them.
- Rinse and chop up some carrots.
- Using the back of a knife press down on the unpeeled garlic to slightly crush it but not completely.
- Roughly slice some onion.
- Heat you skillet

Things to remember when making your steak
The pan must be hot
Don’t be afraid of using good fats or you end up with a non so tender & juicy steak
Do not overcook the steak please it’s like overcooked eggs, please no.
Please don’t repeatedly keep turning the steak around and over and NO. Just turn once and be done. It needs to cook evenly on both sides and you only toughen it by repetition.
How long should you cook your steak?
It depends are you using a rib eye steak or a more regular cut of meat like T-bone because depending how thick it is you need about 3 to 4 minutes a side for a thicker bigger steak.
This rib eye was done for about 3 minutes on each side because its a smaller steak. Even a bit less on the 2nd side.
What if you are not sure when to turn it over?
In that case use your tongs to gently lift it half way up and peep to see if its brown enough rather than turning it over completely. Remember that you are trying to maintain even cooking here.
If you eat meat then you probably enjoy a good steak so if and when you are going to be preparing it for dinner you may as well make it taste amazing! This steak was cooked in a skillet but if you don’t have a skillet use a regular pan and just follow the easy recipe.

THE PERFECT STEAK AND VEG
- 2 rib eye steaks
- 4 carrots
- 1 onion
- 4 garlic cloves unpeeled
- 2 T unsalted butter
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 cups mix rocket, lettuce & baby spinach
- salt, pepper & chili spice
METHOD FOR VEGGIES.
Heat the oven to 190 degrees.
Heat the skillet and when its hot add the butter and oil to melt.
Cook the carrots for about 6-8 minutes while intermittent turning to stop them from burning.
Add whole unpeeled garlic cloves
Turn everything over once more and transfer to a hot oven for another 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown.
METHOD FOR STEAK.
Heat the skillet on the stove.
Season the already rested steaks on both sides.
Let it cook for about 3 minutes without turning and then cook it on the other side. The other side may need just under 3 minutes for even cooking.
Using tongs gently lift the steak and place in another plate. Let it rest even for a minute or two while you serve up the greens.
