Fennel Air Fryer Salmon

Miranda | My Anosmic Kitchen
Fennel Air Fryer Salmon that's shockingly as good when not cooked in the oven or pan fried!? It's soft and flaky, with juices from the fresh lemon, olive oil and fennel spice blend that make your mouth water!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 250 grams salmon fillets x 2
  • 2 tsps extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt and pepper season to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Involtini spice
  • 2 tsps. Fennel seeds/powder or both in combination
  • fresh lemon for serving

Instructions

  • Room Temperature Time to reach room temperature: Remove the salmon from the fridge a little before you air fry it.
  • Preheat Preheat the air fryer: Set the preheat air fryer setting to 190°C/375°F. If you don't have a preheat setting, simply run the air fryer for 4 to 5 minutes as you start prepping the salmon.
  • Prep the salmon Prep the salmon and add seasoning: Pat dry the salmon with kitchen tissue paper and add the salt, pepper, spices and olive oil.
  • Air fryer basket Prep the air fryer basket: Place the seasoned fillets in the air fryer basket over the foil or parchment paper if using paper otherwise straight into the air fryer basket. If you are not using aluminum foil or parchment paper, use cooking spray in the basket before you add the salmon (while it preheats). You can also use cooking spray over the fillets when they are already in.
  • Air fry Air fry: Cook for 8 minutes, they should be flaky when pricked with a fork. If you find that they are not as brown on top as you want, go another 2 minutes on 200°C/400°F. Otherwise they are ready to be served with fresh lemon wedges.

FAQ'S

Can Aluminum Foil Be Used to Air Fry?
The short and only answer is yes.
Can Parchment Paper (aka baking paper) be used in the air fryer?
Yes! You can also use baking paper, an air fryer mat which are those extra mats you find which can replace the paper.
Why use paper in the air fryer when it has it's own air fryer mat?
The whole idea of using foil or parchment paper is to collect the air fryer pan juices which accumulate in the basket, lift and pour. Although the same method can be used without the paper, there are other reasons for using either aluminum foil or baking paper;
  • Keeps the air fryer clean so there's no mess
  • Your air fryer may be old so the metal under the basket has started to peel a little? It's not safe any more to eat off that so use foil.
  • The foil creates a bed for the food so you can lift it up easily.

Why Use An Air Fryer?

Remember that the convenience of an air fryer is that you can open it at any time during cooking. You can also add another minute to just about any food because it goes so quick and it cooks all round in that minute.
