Miranda | My Anosmic Kitchen
This spaghetti steak recipe is made using 2 key ingredients which are meat and spaghetti, the remaining ingredients which make up the 7 standard cooking ingredients are your basics like oil, melted butter, garlic and spices. It really is so simple yet it delivers maximum taste!  That’s what it’s all about. Simple, quick and restaurant standard deliciousness for the whole family.  No creams, no sauces, no reserved pasta water, just pure and simple flavor.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200 grams spaghetti
  • 2 steaks, any
  • salt and black pepper
  • steak spice
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 3 tbsps olive oil, divided
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, sliced

Instructions

Step 1. Prep Your Ingredients

  • Take the steaks out of the fridge at least 10 minutes before you start. Decide which spice flavors you are going to use for the steak, and get them out, salt & pepper, butter, garlic  and olive oil for cooking.

Step 2.  Start By Cooking The Pasta

  • Get a large pot of water on to cook the spaghetti, generously salting it when it boils and then add your spaghetti and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3.  Cook The Garlic, Spice And Spaghetti

  • The spaghetti must be cooked before you start this step and it goes very quick so have the spices, garlic and oil ready.
In a large skillet, on medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once heated, check that the heat is medium-high and not too hot, otherwise adjust it. You want the garlic slices to brown till a light golden brown not burn the minute you add them to the pan.
Add the galic slices and if it means lift your pan for 10 seconds off the stove, then do that, gently swirl the pan (or use a wooden spoon) the oil should roll over the garlic (it prevents the garlic from burning). Add the spice and quickly mix it into the spaghetti and then immediately add the cooked spaghetti. Use a pair of tongs, to lift the spaghetti combining it into the spices, garlic and oil. It’s a matter of seconds, then remove it from the stove.
For the next step, you can either pour the spaghetti into a bowl and use the same pan for the steaks, or use another pan.

Step 4.  Cook The Steaks

  • Season your room temperature steaks, generously on both sides and have a hot skillet ready where the butter is melting and the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil is heating. They must heat together, oil and butter.
Place the steaks straight into the hot pan, laying them down 'away from you' to avoid any splashing on you. You should hear a sizzle if the fats are hot enough, if not, wait for the fat to heat up.
Cook the steak without turning for 4 to 5 minutes for a medium to well done steak. Then turn it over and if you want to render the fat, hold it with a pair of tongs fat side down into the butter just for a few seconds. Reduce the heat and cook the steak on the opposite side, for 3 to 4 minutes or to your likeing.
2 steaks, any, salt and black pepper, steak spice, 2 tbsps butter

Step 5. Basting

  • Just before the last minute or so, use a spoon to scoop the oil onto the steak (don’t turn it over) just the one side is good. This is called basting, and super important for tender flavorful steak. Take it out, let it rest for 5 minutes for the juices to redistribute back into the steak.

Step 6.  Serve

  • Bring the cooked pasta  and then place it over the spaghetti. For optimal taste and flavor, put your stove back on, slice the steak and toss the slices back into the oil for a couple seconds and then pour that left over oil with the steak slices over your pasta.
Finish this tender steak with cracked black pepper and a sprinkle of your favorite steak seasoning.
