Hi there, I’m Miranda,
the creator of My Anosmic Kitchen—a cozy corner of the internet where I share simple, home-cooked recipes made to bring ease and flavor to everyday meals.
I’m a food blogger, spice blend maker, and the creator of a free recipe ebook with over 50 dishes—all written and tested in my kitchen in Cape Town, South Africa. I was also born without a sense of smell (anosmia).
Yes—I can’t smell. But that’s never stopped me from loving food. If anything, it’s shaped the way I cook. I focus on taste, texture, color, and balance—building recipes that feel satisfying in every other way.
When I first started cooking and building this blog, I used to overthink everything. I’d spend more time searching for the “right” ingredients than actually cooking, and not every recipe worked out. There were plenty of misses along the way.
Over time, that changed.
Now, I cook with what I have. No running around, no pressure—just simple ingredients, put together in a way that works. That shift made cooking feel more natural, more creative, and a lot more enjoyable. It’s also the foundation of how I create recipes today.
My Anosmic Kitchen grew from that space. I wanted to show that food can still feel comforting, exciting, and deeply satisfying—even when you experience it differently. Many people with anosmia feel disconnected from food, and I wanted to offer another way in.
Here, you’ll find unfussy recipes made for real life—weeknight dinners, simple sides, and flexible meals that don’t rely on perfection. Everything is tested, photographed, and taste-approved by me (and sometimes my very reliable smell-detector pup, Peanut 🐶).
Whether you’re here for a quick dinner idea, a fresh way to cook, or just a bit of kitchen inspiration—welcome. I hope you find something that makes cooking feel easier, and more like your own.
