I always say that it only takes one time to eat a really good pizza to know the difference and you wont ever eat a nasty pizza again! The difference in pizzaโs is that you may prefer a thick or thin base and then the topping choices are so varied! The pizza sauce is a strong contribution in what makes a great pizza. Too weak, runny or thin and you end up with a soggy pizza base and thatโs not a great start.

How to make this easy pizza sauce
Option 1. Traditional Pizza Sauce
- 2 canned tomatoes
- ยผ cup olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsps. tomato paste
- Favorite pizza seasoning
- Salt & Pepper, to taste
- oregano
- fresh basil, handful
Option 2. Basil and Garlic Pizza Sauce
- 2 canned tomatoes
- ยผ cup olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsps. tomato paste
- Salt & Pepper, to taste
- oregano
- fresh basil, handful
Option 3. 5 Minute Pizza Sauce
- 1 cup tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Italian seasoning to taste
Methods
Traditional Pizza Sauce
- Heat the oil in a pan and don't cook them but sautรฉ onions on medium heat for about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Add the tomato paste, stir it in and let it cook and then add the tomato passata (sauce). your favorite Italian seasoning or our Smell and Taste Pasta Seasoning and salt and pepper

- Simmer for 10 minutes until you're happy with the consistency.
Basil and Garlic Pizza Sauce
- Heat the olive oil and cook the garlic till light golden brown, a few seconds.
- Toss in a handful of fresh basil with the stems.
- Immediately add the canned tomato or the basil will burn!
- Stir in the tomato paste
- Season with salt and pepper
- More fresh basil to finish.
5 Minute Pizza Sauce
Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix.

How to store this easy pizza sauce
Simply pour it into one of a freezer bag and when you need it you can thaw it or pop straight into a pot on the stove.
Here's the thing with freezing, once you use those bags and you've put too much in there, you are then forced to defrost the whole lot and that can be a pain! So you can also divide it into separate smaller bags and it becomes a lot more convenient. Ice trays if that's a preference.

Ingredients
Traditional Pizza Sauce
- 400 grams canned tomatoes 1 x regular small size (800 grams)
- 3 tbsps. extra virgin olive oil ยผ cup
- 2 garlic clove minced
- ยฝ teaspoon salt and fresh black pepper 1 teaspoon
- fresh basil
- dried or fresh oregano
Basil & Garlic Pizza Sauce
- 2 canned tomatoes
- ยผ cup olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsps. tomato paste
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- oregano
- fresh basil handful
5 Minute Pizza Sauce
- 1 can whole tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste
- 2 garlic cloves peeled
- 1 teaspoon Italian spice or Vegetable spice Smell and Taste
- ยผ teaspoon Garlic & Herb seasoning
- ยผ teaspoon Pasta seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
Traditional Pizza Sauce
- Add the tomatoes into a bowl and crush them into smaller pieces. Add the rest of the ingredients, taste for seasoning.
Basil & Garlic Pizza Sauce (10 Minute Cooking Sauce) Extra Flavorful
- Heat the olive oil and cook the garlic till light golden brown, a few seconds and add a handful of fresh basil (with the stems).
- Immediately add the canned tomato or the basil will burn! Stir in the tomato paste and season with salt and pepper. More fresh basil to finish.
- Pour into a strainer/sieve and discard the garlic and basil, using the back of spoon to push the sauce through the sieve.
- Pour the cleaned tomato sauce back into the saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes or until desired consistency is reached. You can discard the bits left over. Once cooled pour into a clean jar and store in the fridge.
5 Minute Pizza Sauce
- Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix. Taste for seasoning.
