And one of the drinks was the base of this Avocado smoothie. Ive made it into 3 ingredients and hopefully you will love it as much as we do!
The Easy Recipe for Avocado Smoothie is as easy as it sounds, with only 3 ingredients. This isn’t one of those smoothie recipes that start with 3 ingredients only to become 5 or even 10.
The best part of this smoothie recipe is that it features simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen, or you can find in your nearest mall. Another plus side is that they are all healthy ingredients for this delicious smoothie.
Reasons to Love this No Banana Avocado Recipe
- Few ingredients
- Easy to make.
- Packed with vitamins and nutrients
- Sweet and creamy (sweeter than ice cream!)
- Keto diet-friendly
- Vegan and dairy-free friendly
3 Ingredient Smoothie Ingredients
Avocado - Fresh or Frozen works in this recipe just make sure the avocado is ripe and solid, not soft and over-ripe.
- Avocados contain so many essential nutrients that make them a very healthy choice, including vitamin K, fatty acids, pantothenic acid, vitamin C, and vitamin E.
Milk - Any milk of your choice. For smoothies, we like unsweetned almond milk.
- Milk is the second ingredient needed to make this creamy avocado smoothie. There are so many kinds of milk that deliver the delicious creamy texture this smoothie needs, and it’s totally up to you to decide on the milk you want.
Honey/Sugar or Maple Syrup - Honey is primarily a sweetener, and it improves the taste of the avocado smoothie. It also helps that honey is healthy and has antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
- If you’re not a fan of honey, sugar can suffice, or even maple syrup to deliver a deep, satisfying sweetness to your smoothie.
How to Make This Healthy Avocado Smoothie
- Cut the avocado in two, take out the pit, and scoop the flesh into a high-speed blender
- Pour in your milk of choice (I prefer almond or soy milk)
- Measure your honey/sugar/maple syrup and pour it into the blender. (If you’re into low-sugar smoothies, you can use very little honey/syrup or skip it entirely)
- Blend together until it is smooth and creamy.
- You can throw in ice cubes before blending if you want a cool smoothie.
What is the best milk to use for smoothies?
You can use any mik that you prefer for smoothies. Ofcourse, you can opt for regular milk or cow's milk, or if you’re lactose intolerant, non-dairy milk can be your milk of choice.
I often find that a lot of people prefer plant-based milk such as almond milk, especially unsweetened almond milk, which I understand because they’re low in calories and high in vitamins.
Soy milk is also another great option for a creamy smoothie because it’s creamier than almond milk. It’s also rich in protein, in case that’s what you’re going for.
There’s also oat milk and cashew milk that’s quite as creamy as whole milk, and great for people who are often intolerant to a lot of milk products.
Coconut milk can be light or creamy depending on how it’s made, and what you want. You can also use Greek yogurt if you don’t have enough milk or if you want to skip milk altogether.
Recipe Notes
- It’s important to wash the avocado properly before cutting, and ensure that it’s not overripe or already spoiling, as this can cause food poisoning. (and a dark color smoothie).
- If you want a thicker smoothie, then you shouldn’t use too much milk, especially lighter kinds of milk like coconut and cow milk. But, if your smoothie is too thick, a great way to lighten it up is to add coconut water or regular water/ice.

- You may or may not like lime juice, it's a personal preference. I think lime juice brightens the smoothie up with even a pinch of salt to balance.
- You may find that, because avocados already have a neutral tast, you don't like the lime in it You have to let your taste buds lead you 🙂

FAQ's
Does a smoothie serve as a full breakfast?
Smoothies are a great breakfast alternative if you're in a rush but should generally be followed up with a light bite later (like boiled eggs).
It also depends on the type of smoothie. If you add only fruit, it's not a full breakfast (just sugar) so make sure to add banana, chia seeds, avocado, spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, almond butter, pumpkin and sunfower seeds and don't forget about ginger and other spices.
Which berries go with smoothies?
All berries are great in smoothies, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, mixed berries, and the frozen kind are fantastic in smoothies!
Other ingredients you could add to an avocado smoothie are:
- Almond extract
- Salt
- Fresh lime juice or lemon juice
- Frozen fruit
- Chia seeds
- Baby spinach
- Water and ice
Storage
To store this smoothie? Don't! Drink it fresh and on the go 🙂 It’s best to finish your delicious avocado smoothie in one sitting.
However, if you must store it (it happens) then pour it into a drinking cup with a lid or the cup of a blender and cap it. Store it in the fridge for the day and at most, overnight. I have left it in a glass, covered with cling wrap and it was still super delicious the next morning. It will need a little ice water and a stir with a spoon to thin it out again.
To Freeze: I would pour it into an ice tray which make it convenient when making smoothies.
