These warm beef wraps with labneh and mixed greens has been inspired by enjoying authentic middle eastern food with friends and family.
The beautiful spread of food which includes slow cooked lamb, dips, pita breads and more is as warming as a Mediterranean feast.
It's the perfect way to use up left over meat from a meat roast. If you don't have left over roast meat you can make this dish with cubed beef. I also have another cubed beef recipe here
How To Make These Beef Wraps
Use any left over meat roast and in this recipe I used our Sunday Topside Roast Beef with vegetables and gravy. The great thing is that it's the kind of meat that you can use for a delicious roast or cubed and slow cooked in a stew. With what meat there was left over I cubed and sautéed the beef meat cubes in a warm and gentle curry and spice mix.
The idea with this recipe was to maintain great flavors but keep them gentle not overpowering considering the labneh that it would be served with.
Cooking is so much more than just food and when if you really love it then you know exactly where I'm heading with this. To feed your family is a personal sense of pride and how we cook, where we are when we do it, what sort of mind frame we're in, whether calm or not, that will most definitely come through in your food. All you have to do is pay attention.
Warm Beef Wraps
You need very few ingredients it's more a matter of sautéing the meat and adding in a tomato paste and red curry paste for outstanding flavors with just the right amount of seasonings. I used our Calabrese spice here because a little goes a long way but the much needed warm and spicy combination gave it a tasty boost of fragrance and flavor.
Cubed Beef Roast Start by cutting the meat into cubes.
Garlic Mince 3 to 4 cloves of garlic which you only add when the meat has some color.
Butter and Oil Heat the oil in a large non stick pan and add the butter to melt. Butter has so much flavor and the result is a tender moist piece of meat as opposed to the meat being dry.
Red Curry Paste Delicious Aromatic Flavors
Tomato Paste Always adds some body to a dish with it's deep color and taste.
- TIP! In maintaining what tomato paste brings to the dish I added it to the meat without adding any liquid with it because liquid simply drowns the paste removing any chance for it to shine in flavor. So adding it with the spices and leaving it to sauté maximizes the aromas and taste.
Calabrese spice Textured layers and layers of flavors which will soon become the spice that you look for in your kitchen when you want something with a bit of a kick. Find it here

Wraps and Labneh
Wraps The best part of these steak bites is that you can serve them with pretty much anything from pitas, rice, salad and flatbreads. In this recipe I've opted for store bought whole-wheat wraps which are a true God-send and so convenient. There are so many varieties to choose from not only whole-wheat, there's grain and seeds, beetroot wraps, turmeric flavors and more.
Labneh Is a creamy Middle Eastern yogurt dip or cheese and is super simple to make. However for me, today was not that day and if you've seen my post on my Instagram you probably already know that there's been more than a mountain of challenges happening for us right now. My energy is reserved for my family, supporting those I love, loving myself by continuing to do what I love which is cooking and making spices. This is where I lose and find myself all in just a moment.
Beef Wraps With Labneh
If you have not tried using this Middle Eastern style dip which you can use instead of using cream cheese then do get yourself a tub! You buy them in a tub just as you would yogurt so the same way you would use cream cheese you can use labneh.
It's a tangy, thick, creamy yogurt cheese that can served with a layer of fruit, fresh veg, nuts, spices etc or with greens and pita bread. More a case of how you would like to use it. Labneh is also often served as part of a dip on a platter with the above mentioned foods and is as important in the Middle Eastern cuisine as is hummus.
