Did you know that in the US an entrée is the same as a mains? If you also consider an entrée the same as an appetizer/starter so do we and always have. Neither is wrong so we can all relax 🙂 This goes back to the 19th/20th century when meals were lavish and still consisted of many courses but with the Great Depression in the US that all changed. It was no longer possible to serve big meals so the courses decreased. The word entrée went from something between the second serving and the mains to a starter in France. The Americans kept it as a main dish and never changed it. There! That's why we all correct. Why didn't they follow suit with France? Well that's another conversation for another time 🙂
